SURGE / Site policy
Cookie Policy
This draft describes browser storage and optional measurement currently used or referenced by the SURGE website. It is not legal advice or a confirmation of compliance.
Draft for review · Legal review required before production launch.
What this site uses
The static website records your consent choice in browser localStorage under surge-cookie-consent. This is browser storage, not a cookie. The site should remain usable when storage is unavailable; in that case the preference may need to be selected again on a later visit.
Google Analytics 4 is configured but is intended to load only after you choose “Allow analytics”. When active, Google Analytics may use cookies such as _ga and related identifiers to distinguish visits. SURGE has not verified the final retention settings in the Google Analytics account; those settings must be checked before launch.
Cookie and storage categories
- Essential preference storage: the consent choice in local storage lets the site remember whether analytics was accepted or declined. The current implementation does not require this choice to browse the site.
- Analytics: optional Google Analytics measurement is loaded only after affirmative consent. Declining prevents the analytics script from being loaded by this site.
- Functional: no separate functional cookie category is currently configured.
- Marketing: no marketing or advertising pixel is intentionally configured on the production homepage.
- Third-party resources: Google Fonts are requested from Google to render page typography. The homepage loads an illustrative stock photograph from Pexels, AI-generated concept illustrations from Kombai Assets and Anime.js from esm.sh for decorative SVG motion; these requests are not gated by analytics consent, and can disclose technical connection data to their providers. The homepage’s interactive Google Maps iframe is added only when you choose “Load interactive Google Map”; no map frame or Maps request is created on initial page load. When activated, Google may receive technical request data such as IP address and browser information. Tabler icon assets are served locally by SURGE’s hosting provider. The stock photo is explicitly marked illustrative, and the AI-generated illustrations are concept art; neither is represented as an image of a confirmed SURGE site. External-provider behavior and any cookies are outside SURGE’s direct control.
Duration
The consent preference remains in local storage until you change or clear it. Google Analytics cookie names and durations are controlled by Google and the property configuration; SURGE must confirm the actual settings and update this notice before enabling analytics in production. This static site does not currently set a separate marketing-cookie duration.
Manage or withdraw your choice
Choose “Necessary only” or “Allow analytics” in the site preference banner. You can reopen the controls with the “Privacy settings” button fixed near the bottom of the page, or use the control below. Reopening settings lets you change or withdraw an earlier analytics choice. You can also clear this site’s browser storage and cookies using your browser controls.
After withdrawal, SURGE’s site code disables analytics and attempts to remove accessible Google Analytics cookies for this domain. Cookies created by third parties may require separate removal using the provider or browser controls.
